It was a pleasure for me to visit Sweden and participate in a training conference on preaching, organized by Theofil. I was very impressed by their commitment to ensure that theological training has both academic integrity as well as clear practical application.  The concern to ensure that church leaders, ministers and lay people handle the Bible responsibly and communicate effectively is a strategically wise approach, and I commend Theofil for their excellent work. The event was well organized and executed, and it was a privilege to have participated.

In February 2013 I participated in a conference arranged by Theofil, reflecting on the hermeneutics of Old Testament law, and how pastors and Bible teachers today might go about preaching it in a way that is faithful to the original text and context, yet relevant to today's world.  I was impressed with the scope of Theofil's interests and engagement with the academy and the church. It has a healthy and necessary vision. It seeks to demonstrate that theological reflection and communication can be done very effectively on a strong confessional foundation without any loss of academic integrity and credibility, or of societal relevance.  I am happy to commend its work.
